Downtown Walkaround encourages visits to local businesses
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A monthlong event is giving people a chance to check out more of those downtown businesses firsthand.
Downtown Mainstreet kicked off its annual “Downtown Walkaround” Friday.
Through the month of May, people can pick up a “Downtown Passport,” which lists 55 businesses.
After you visit a business, you get a stamp on the passport. People who fill at least 25 spots on the passport will be entered into a contest with the chance to win prizes.
“I think it’s just a really good exploration, I think new businesses want to be a part of it because it’s a way for people to see the new businesses,” said Downtown Mainstreet executive director Robin Moses. “Some of the comments we get every year when people come into our office to turn in the cards and get their stamp from us is they just didn’t realize how many new businesses have been added to downtown.”
You can pick up a stamp card at Downtown Mainstreet’s office at 500 Main Street or download one online at lacrossedowntown.com.
