Dozens of families participate in annual “A Walk To Remember”

Families walk to honor babies that have passed away

Dozens of families gathered in Holmen on Saturday to walk in honor of babies that have passed away.

Twenty-Eight families participated in the annual “A Walk to Remember” event.

Each year in the United States, more than one million pregnancies end in miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death.

The walk is sponsored by Mayo Clinic Health System, Franciscan Health Care’s Share Program and Gundersen Health System’s Resolve Through Sharing.

One registered nurse said it gives families who are affected by the same experience, a chance to comfort each other.

“The families enjoy seeing each other each subsequent year, remembering their loses and having that community building time together,” said Kandi Holt, a registered nurse at Mayo Clinic Health System

The purpose of the walk is to better understand how to support these families. If you know someone who would benefit from the Share Program, call 608-785-0940
