‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ initiative cracks down on drunk drivers
LA CROSSE COUNTY, WIS — A nation-wide initiative hopes to crack down on drunk drivers.
For the next two weeks authorities will be on high alert for anyone drinking and driving.
The initiative, ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,’ promotes alternative transportation while drinking. Agencies from across the state are working together increase their presence on the road way.
Authorities say one major goal of the initiative is to educate the public on the risks of driving under the influence.
“People need to be educated and I guess not take that risk of driving while intoxicated. I mean buzz driving is drunk driving,” said Thomas Campbell, Wisconsin State trooper.
Authorities say if you feel you have had too much to drink, the Wisconsin Tavern League offers a free cab ride at bars to anyone under the influence.
