Driver charged in Iowa fatal wants trial moved

NORTHWOOD, Iowa (AP) — A northern Iowa man accused of hitting and killing a 7-year-old girl as she walked toward a stopped school bus wants his trial from Worth County.

Aaron Gunderson, of Northwood, is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. He’s accused of striking Kadyn Halverson, of rural Kensett, as she walked to the bus on May 10. Authorities say Gunderson fled the scene.

Online court records show his attorney filed a motion last week seeking a change of venue. No hearing is set on the request.

Gunderson’s trial, which had been scheduled for Dec. 7, has been continued until Feb. 22.
