Driver dies after SUV rolls in eastern Iowa
MARENGO, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a slick roadway helped cause an accident that fatally injured a woman near Marengo in eastern Iowa.
The Iowa County Sheriff’s Office says a sport utility vehicle was heading east on U.S. Highway 6 when the accident occurred around 6:45 a.m. Monday about a mile and a half west of Marengo.
Witness told deputies that the SUV driver was trying to pass another vehicle when her SUV went out of control on a frosty stretch of pavement. The SUV rolled into a ditch, ejecting the driver.
The sheriff’s office says the driver was taken to Marengo Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead there.
Her name and other information were not released.
The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office reported several accidents on slippery roads Monday morning.
