Driver gets 7 years in St. Paul hit-run death
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A man has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for the hit-and-run death of a 78-year-old St. Paul man this summer.
Twenty-one-year-old Gregory John Larsin also was ordered Thursday to pay a $6,000 fine and restitution to the victim’s family.
Larsin pleaded guilty in September to one count of criminal vehicular homicide.
According to the complaint, two vehicles had stopped to allow Roger Tetu to cross the road near his home on July 26. Witnesses told police a car traveling at a high rate of speed went around the stopped cars, struck Tetu and fled without stopping.
Police found the car nearby and determined that Larsin had recently bought it from a friend’s girlfriend.
The court will determine the amount of restitution later.
