Drug awareness forum to be held in Sparta Wed. night

Event runs from 6-8 p.m. at the Colonial Banquet Center

SPARTA, WI — The Monroe County community is encouraged to come to a drug awareness forum Wednesday night at the Colonial Banquet Center, 1415 West Wisconsin Street, in Sparta.

The event, which goes from 6 – 8 p.m., go over trends in Monroe County, drug abuse warning signs, what many drugs and paraphernalia look like and resources for those with additions and/or their families.

Presenters will be focusing on prescription drugs, heroin and meth. Presenters include representatives from Monroe County Human Services, the Monroe County District Attorney, the Monroe County Justice Department, the Sparta Police Department and a recovering addict.

The event is a partnership with the Monroe County Safe Community Coalition’s SAMHSA/ONDCP Drug Free Communities Grant, Couleecap and Monroe County Human Services.
