Drug Take back day events coming in La Crosse, Jackson, Eau Claire Counties

In 2019, 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers.

WISCONSIN (WKBT) – Happening this weekend, La Crosse, Jackson and Eau Claire Counties will hold a ‘Drug Take Back Day’.

According to a national survey, in 2019, 9.7 million people misused prescription pain relievers.

The majority of those drugs were obtained from family and friends.

“A large number of people who become addicted to opioids, and that includes heroin, first begin their addiction by improperly using a prescription drug,” said Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul.

Here in La Crosse County, you can drop off unused or unwanted prescription drugs at the Health and Human services building.

The collection this Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.

There are also drop boxes throughout the community.
