Early morning fire destroys business in Scarville

SCARVILLE, Iowa (AP) — Fire has destroyed a business in the northern Iowa community of Scarville.

Fire Chief Dan Kesler tells the Globe Gazette the Tuesday morning fire destroyed Hippy Chicks Bar and Grill.

Kesler says the building was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. He says they succeeded in saving an adjacent building.

The Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire but Kesler says he doesn’t think it was suspicious.

The name of the business owner wasn’t available.

Firefighters from several departments in Iowa and Minnesota helped fight the fire.
