Eastern Iowa county installs 4 new weather sirens
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Johnson County in eastern Iowa has installed another new weather siren.
Officials say it was the fourth new siren installed, and six more are expected to be installed by the end of the year.
The sirens are aimed at protecting people in higher density rural parts of the county.
County emergency management coordinator Dave Wilson says grants, local option sales taxes and private funds paid for the sirens.
