Eau Claire library launches ‘park & pick-up’ contact-free service
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WKBT) — Beginning Monday, November 2, the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in downtown Eau Claire will launch its new “Park & Pickup” self-service, contact-free holds pickup operation.
This new service will replace the library’s popular drive-thru procedure, offering an even easier way for customers to retrieve reserved books and materials. Both systems were designed to maximize health and safety.
To use Park & Pickup, people can now select “Eau Claire Self-Service Pickup” as their pickup location when reserving items online. This new location is the library’s lower level lobby. After customers receive notice their holds are ready, they can access the lobby from the library’s lower level parking lot off S. Dewey Street. They simply park in the lot, and pick up their materials in the lobby using a self-service checkout kiosk. Customers must have their physical library card with them. Pickup appointments are no longer necessary.
The new self-service pickup location will be open between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays. As usual,
after materials are ready, people will have seven days to retrieve them.
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, only one individual or family unit is allowed in the pickup area at a time. “Park & Pickup” is intended only for people who are not experiencing symptoms and have no known exposure to COVID-19. There is no access to the main library from the pickup area, and staff members will not be present.

Customers wishing to pick up their items from inside the building can simply select “Eau Claire” as their pickup location when reserving materials online.
