Edith Rifenberg

The absolute best wife and mother on earth, Edith Louise (Rhomberg) Rifenberg, 94, of Onalaska, died June 26, 2022, at her home. She was born on November 7, 1927, to Frank and Agnes (Kvam) Rhomberg in La Crosse.

Edith L RifenbergOn July 2, 1949, Edith married Richard Roy Rifenberg at Wesley United Methodist Church in La Crosse. They would have celebrated 73 years of marriage together on Saturday.
Edith graduated from La Crosse Logan High School in 1945. She worked for the Autolite and La Crosse Footwear. She enjoyed bowling, trips to Las Vegas with Dick and their friends, trips to Germany with family, being at her grandchildren’s activities, and those Rhomberg family picnics and card games.
She is survived by her husband, Dick; son Ronald R. (Mary Bale) Rifenberg of Texas, and their children Jennifer (Wade) Clowdus, Matthew (Rebekah) Rifenberg, John (Michelle) Rifenberg, Tanson Rifenberg, Darrell Rifenberg, Jordan Rifenberg and Lucas Rifenberg; son Richard F. Rifenberg of La Crosse; son Robert S. (Michelle) Rifenberg of La Crescent, Minn., and their son John (Cherie) Rifenberg; daughter Roxanne R. (Rich) Conniff Jr. of Onalaska, and their children Krysti (Brock) Anderson, Kyle Conniff, Kody Conniff and Kordell Conniff; 11 great-grandchildren, with a great grandson due any day; one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Judy (Jerry) Manske of La Crosse, a special sister-in-law, Sherry Rhomberg, and several nieces and nephews.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Frances “Dude” Rhomberg, Loren “Tom” Rhomberg and Gary Rhomberg, and five sisters, Catherine (Joseph) Ortiz, Doris (Larry) Vollmar, Patricia (Duane) Marx, Sylvia Rhomberg, and Jacqueline Bruha.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Mom’s caretaker and good friend, Bonnie, the incredible Mayo Hospice team (our angels on earth), including Liz, Jody, Gloria, Kristin, Dr. Bingol, Dr. Stephen Stacey and longtime physician and friend, Dr. Cheri Olson.
Edith was an extremely kind and gentle person, with never a harsh word uttered about anybody. She was loved by all who knew her. God rest her soul. RIP until we meet again.
Per Edith’s wishes, a private family service will be at Dickinson Family Funeral Home in La Crosse
with Chaplain Kristin VanHeyningen officiating. Burial will be Onalaska Cemetery.
