LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – It is important to exercise mental and physical strength over the past year, but some in or community may be struggling more than we see.

Older populations are suffering not only because they are vulnerable to the virus, but the safety methods to keep people safe can be isolating as well.

During the holidays it’s important to stay engaged and connected with loved ones while respecting safety measures.

“Just committing to that one phone call a day, talk to mom, talk to great aunt Agnes, once a day for 30 minutes to an hour. I think these are baseline commitments we need to do to care for our older adults,” said Dr. Chrstina Chen, a Geriatrician at Mayo Clinic.

Just because you are physically distant, doesn’t mean you have to be disconnected.
