Entering final postseason, Melrose-Mindoro seniors proud of basketball legacy
Melrose-Mindoro girls basketball has had a strong four years with Emily Herzberg, Mesa Byom and Calette Lockington on the court. The Mustangs have gone 98-4 and reached two Division 4 state title games, but they’ve come up short to Aquinas.
In their final high school postseason, the goal remains to finally win that last game of the season, but the seniors say no matter what the next few weeks bring, this group is proud of the legacy they’ve built.
“We totally want to leave a legacy,” senior Emily Herzberg said. “We’ve already–this team and what we’ve done in the past has already made such an impact on the little kids in our community. You can tell that there’s a lot more of a culture in our basketball, so just being able to make that for our community and to be able to have fun doing it is pretty special.”
