Eric Thames signs with Nationals

Former Brewers first baseman Eric Thames has signed a one-year deal with the Nationals for $4 million, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Thames spent three seasons with the Brewers and hit around .237 with 72 home runs.

The Brewers declined Thames’s $7.5 million option for 2020 back in November, and then signed veteran first baseman Justin Smoak to a one-year, $5 million deal on Dec. 19.
