Faith Alliance Hopes to bring community together

A local nonprofit is bringing together congregations of all walks of life and religions.

La Crosse’s Compassionate Community Faith Alliance held an informal meeting Saturday afternoon at the Boys& Girls Club to discuss ways the religions can come together to improve the community.

The group talked about everything from homelessness the environment and mental illness.

Organizers say the results can be powerful when the entire religious community comes together.

“What really inspires me about our community is what people have already done themselves; not waiting for government to do it or legislate it but really it’s what everybody has in common. When we come together, when we’re the same, that’s when we get our best from ourselves and our community,” said John David, director of Compassionate Community Faith Alliance.

The organization hopes to work with social services in the area to help those in need.
