Family-friendly zone, alcohol-free spot on Maple Leaf parade route

For a third year, families had a chance to watch the parade in an alcohol-free zone.

The family-friendly zone was open to parade-goers looking for an alcohol-free experience.

The “Coalition to Change the Culture” sponsored the alcohol-free area.

Families watched the parade across the street from the Festival Foods on Copeland Avenue.

Organizers said the space provides families with a safe alternative to watch the parade.

“This is great. This is here because people asked us for it. People have been telling us for a couple of years now that they were not bringing their kids to the parade anymore and they wanted a chance to do that,” said Family Friend Zone Director Catherine Kolkmeier.
