Family Fun Walk raises child abuse awareness
Child Abuse Prevention Task Force informs local families about abuse
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — A walk in La Crosse took a look at child abuse.
The Coulee Region Child Abuse Prevention Task Force hosted their third annual Family Fun Walk at Riverside Park.
The Task Force is a group dedicated to informing people about how child abuse happens, and some things that can be done to prevent it. Saturday’s walk brought people together to learn about what they can do in their own communities to prevent this abuse.
The group Bikers Against Child Abuse, or BACA, also joined in on the fun.
“To have a big, burly, biker guy come up and say ‘I’ll protect you.’ And that’s what BACA really is about is standing behind kids and being a strength for them when they don’t feel like they have anyone in their corner,” said Child Abuse Prevention Task Force Co-Chair Nicole Milliren.
The event also included face painting, sidewalk chalk, music therapy and more.
