Famous Footwear to close distribution center

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (AP) — Famous Footwear has notified the state it will close its Sun Prairie distribution center and lay off 144 employees.

Parent company, Brown Group Retail, said in a letter to the state that the center will be permanently shut down, 42 employees will be laid off in January and 102 employees in April. About 15 will transfer to other locations.

Under state law, employers with 50 or more employees must give 60 days of notice before a big layoff or closing.
