Farm Bill impact to La Crosse area
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The farm bill passed in the U-S House of representatives.
Now, local experts are considering how the bill may impact farmers should it be signed into law.
The farm bill helps to cover the financial impact of crop loss, as well as promoting soil conservation.
Part of what makes the bill so complex is how much it impacts our daily lives.
“About 80 percent of the farm bill is dedicated to nutrition and the reason that is is because agriculture and nutrition go hand and hand,” said Kaitlyn Lance, Agriculture Educator with University of Wisconsin Extension.
The U.S. senate still has yet to pass their version of the bill.
The senate and house will have to then create a compromise version of the two bills.
