Farmers cleaning up after winter disasters can apply for funding for energy-efficient changes

Farmers who now have to replace a barn roof are getting some financial help if they choose to make energy-efficient changes.

Focus on Energy, which aims to make those changes across Wisconsin, is offering additional financial help to farmers impacted by the winter. The initiative already offers help in making greener changes, but is now offering more to farmers needing to replace equipment due to natural disasters.

“With what is going on with the dairy economy especially, we want to be able to help. We have some additional funding this year, and we want to be able to help even more than we usually can,” said Focus on Energy Dairy Energy Specialist Jessica Mlsna.

Farmers interested in these benefits need to have reconstruction needs due to a 2019 natural disaster, such as the winter snowfall, and be a customer of a Wisconsin utility that partners with “Focus on Energy.” They also need to apply for the bonus by June 1.

Interested farmers can apply at the Focus on Energy website.
