Father dies after fleeing with infant

MERRILL, WI (AP) — Authorities say a man has died in a crash in Lincoln County while fleeing with his drug-addicted infant daughter.

The 3-week-old baby and an 18-year-old passenger in the man’s vehicle were not seriously injured in the crash Tuesday afternoon near Merrill.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice issued a statewide crime alert for the man after he took the baby who was in the court-ordered care of Taylor County Human Services.

WAOW-TV says the 24-year-old man lost control of his vehicle, hit another car and went off the road while fleeing from state agents.
