FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Westby still open
La Crosse, Wis. (WKBT) — A Disaster Recovery Center in Westby remains open to assist people impacted by flooding in late August this year.
Vernon, Monroe, Crawford, Richland and La Crosse Counties have been designated for individual assistance.
The centers are staffed by disaster recovery specialists from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration, Wisconsin Emergency Management and other agencies.
Despite the number of recovery centers decreasing, options still exist for people in need.
“Doesn’t matter what county you live in, anybody who is affected by the disaster in the nine designated counties can go into a disaster recovery center and consult with recovery specialists,” said Jim Homstad, FEMA media relations specialist.
The last day to register for assistance is December 17th.
The center in Westby will remain open from 9 in the morning until 6 in the evening until further notice.
Flood survivors are encouraged to register for federal assistance before arriving.
