Festival Foods donates nearly 200 hams to Hunger Task Force

Grocery chain donating 1200+ hams across Wisconsin

Many people enjoy a holiday ham this time of year, but not everyone can afford one.

That’s why Festival Foods is teaming up with a nationwide effort called “Hams for Hunger” to donate more than 1200 hams across Wisconsin, including here in La Crosse.

Festival’s locations in La Crosse donated their hams to the Hunger Task Force, which serves 90 other programs in the greater La Crosse area.

The food pantry’s executive director, Shelly Fortner, says even though donations are appreciated year-round, they want to do whatever they can to make the holidays a happy time for area families.

“Hunger is here all year, but during the holiday season you and I are looking forward to sitting down to a great meal with our families,” said Fortner. “There’s no reason why we can’t help provide that for families who are less fortunate.”

Representatives from Festival Foods say they’re happy to do their part to make it a happy holidays for more families.

“We definitely like to give back to the communities that we live in, and not only be involved but help out when and where we can,” said assistant store manager Kristie Hemmersbach.

More than 190 hams were given to the Hunger Task Force as part of the donation.
