‘Field of Dreams’ property in eastern Iowa sold

DYERSVILLE, Iowa (AP) — The eastern Iowa site made famous by the movie “Field of Dreams” has been sold.

The owners of the property near Dyersville announced Sunday that they had accepted an offer from Go the Distance Baseball LLC that would preserve the site and develop a baseball and softball complex.

Don and Becky Lansing had put the land up for sale at $5.4 million in May 2010. The actual purchase price was not disclosed.

The sale includes the two-bedroom house, the famous baseball diamond, six outbuildings and 193 acres depicted in the 1989 movie.

The Lansings have said they had gotten several inquiries about the site but were committed to finding a buyer that would preserve its legacy.

Go the Distance co-owner Denise Stillman says she’s excited about the prospects for the site.
