‘Fill the Seat’ rally held in La Crosse to support confirmation of Judge Barrett

Rally held outside the Senator Tammy Baldwin's La Crosse office

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Wisconsin’s third congressional district candidate Derrick Van Orden joined supporters of the confirmation of Judge Barrett for a rally Thursday in La Crosse.

It was along 7th Street, outside of Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin’s La Crosse office.

Baldwin has said that voters should be allowed to cast their ballots before the nomination and confirmation process moves forward.

Van Orden says the Democrats are intentionally slowing the confirmation process.

“Amy Coney Barrett is quite possibly one of the most qualified jurist ever to be put up to become a member of the Supreme Court. And to try to play these little administrative tricks that they’re doing to slow down her confirmation is quite frankly sad,” said Republican candidate for the 3rd Congressional district Derrick Van Orden.

In response to the rally, Senator Baldwin said in part “It is wrong for Senate Republicans to rush a lifetime appointment to Supreme Court to do what President Trump wants – terminate the Affordable Care Act and take away protections for people with pre-existing conditions during a deadly pandemic.”
