Final 9-day Oktoberfest Celebration comes to a close
LA CROSSE, WI — Another year of one of the greatest celebrations in La Crosse has come to an end.
The 53rd Annual Oktoberfest celebration came to a close Saturday night.
The fest brings out about 150,000 people each year.
While final numbers aren’t in yet, the president of Oktoberfest, Kam-Lin Roswell, said attendance should be about the same despite some gloomy and rainy days this year.
This was also the last year of the fest being nine days long.
The Oktoberfest board will now head straight to work planning for next year’s four-day celebration.
“A lot of people think, ‘Oh my gosh, are they still going to go out to the schools, are they going to get out to the care facilities?’ Yes we are,” said Roswell. “The week after Oktoberfest where the royal family gets into the community, that’s still part of (the) four-day, so that’s very important. I think just the planning of all those activities and the community outreach is what we will be looking at.”
Roswell said the final numbers for attendance and money raised for fundraising efforts should be available in December.
