Fired Milwaukee officer to be sentenced
MILWAUKEE (AP) — A fired Milwaukee police officer is due to be sentenced after he was convicted of slamming a suspect’s head against a wall during an arrest.
A jury found 49-year-old Rodney R. Lloyd guilty of misconduct in public office. He was acquitted of a separate charge of abusing a prisoner.
He’s scheduled to be sentenced Friday morning. He faces a maximum penalty of 18 months in prison and a $10,000 fine.
His defense attorney, Steven Kohn, declined to comment before the hearing.
Lloyd had arrested a man on a domestic-violence complaint last year and brought him to a police station. The criminal complaint says the man was taken into the booking room, where Lloyd slammed his head into a concrete wall.
Lloyd was fired after the incident. He’s appealing that decision.
