First sweep of leaf collection complete in La Crosse

Crews to start second sweep tomorrow

The La Crosse Refuse & Recycling Department has completed the first sweep of leaf collection.

According to a press release, crews will begin a second sweep tomorrow, November 6. The city will still collect leaves even if there is a light amount of snow. City officials ask that residents stir the piles of leaves mixed with snow, so they are visible to crew members on the boulevards.

During leaf collection, residents are asked to place leaves on the boulevard, not into the street, gutter, or over catch basins. Leaves placed in the street may restrict or plug storm drains. For ordinance information see the City Municipal Code related to yard waste.

Do not pile leaves around trees, poles, or behind parked cars.

Collection will not coincide with garbage/recycling collection schedules.

Leaves mixed with brush or covered will not be collected.
