Flu vaccine shipment delayed
Gundersen Health System has a small supply, ordered more
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — If you’re waiting to get your flu shot it might be awhile.
Gundersen Health System in La Crosse says there’s a shipping delay with the vaccine.
But even though there’s a delay it doesn’t mean there will be a shortage. The hospital already has a small supply of vaccines and will soon have more.
But concern over of how some of the vaccines were originally shipped caused the hospital to order a new shipment.
“Vaccine is difficult to ship, you have to make sure it maintains the right temperature. We weren’t comfortable with how it was handled so we sent it back to the manufacturer,” said Gundersen Health System Infection Preventionist Marilyn Michels.
Gundersen expects to have close to a full supply of vaccines by October 10.
