Flyway Bridge is open in Winona

The new Flyway Bridge connects Latch Island in Winona with Buffalo Town Park in Buffalo county

WINONA, Minn (WKBT) – Enjoying the beauty of Winona just became a bit easier.

A new bridge has been constructed that connects parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota just opened.

The new Flyway Bridge connects Latch Island in Winona with Buffalo Town Park in Buffalo county.

It also connects the Flyway Trail on the Wisconsin side with trails across the border.

The trail was also expanded to allow for bike use as well.

The bridge allows the trail to go above the railway in the area.

For chairman David Schams, and others on the Flyway Trail Board, the successful completion of the bridge and trail is only the beginning, “Eventually, we hope to have this trail go all the way through Buffalo County. Up as far as the Chippewa River on the north end of Buffalo County.”

The hope is to increase community connectivity and support economic development.
