Former Langlade County deputy facing 22 charges
ANTIGO, Wis. (AP) — A former Langlade County sheriff’s deputy is facing 22 charges including sexual assault of a child under age 16.
Bail was set at $50,000 Tuesday for 25-year-old Michael Brayton, of Gleason. A judge ordered that Brayton have no contact with girls under the age of 18.
Brayton remains in custody. Online court records do not list whether he has an attorney.
The Antigo Daily Journal reports the charges are linked to incidents in the Elcho area with four girls, ages 18, 17, 16, and 15.
The department says Brayton was a deputy from 2008 until last month. In a news release, Sheriff Bill Greening said none of the alleged crimes happened while Brayton was on duty.
The Marathon County District Attorney’s office is prosecuting the case.
