Former state senator pleads not guilty to OWI

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) — A former state senator has mailed in not guilty pleas to a charge of drunken driving and crossing a highway’s center line.

Randy Hopper was arrested Oct. 16 in Fond du Lac County after a concerned motorist called 911 to report a driver weaving back and forth on Highway 151. Hopper was scheduled to appear in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court Monday afternoon. But, the Fond du Lac Reporter says his written pleas by mail negated the need for a court appearance.
