Former Webster County dispatcher charged in theft

FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) — A former dispatch supervisor for the Webster County Law Enforcement Telecommunications Center is accused in a theft case, which a state audit says involves over $7,700.

Susan Huss, of Fort Dodge, was charged Tuesday with second-degree theft, fraudulent practices and felonious misconduct in office. She’s in the Webster County jail on $15,000 bond. Her case isn’t on the online court system, and it’s not known if she has an attorney.

The Fort Dodge police department asked for the state’s assistance on Jan. 24 after noticing discrepancies in the center’s financial statements. Huss resigned on Jan. 28.

She’s accused of using the center’s debit cards and depositing its checks into her bank account dating back to 2006. The audit identified $7,708 of undeposited collections and improper and unsupported disbursements.
