Foundation raises money for mental health

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — An annual fundraiser is helping raise awareness about suicide and mental health.
Since 2008, the Joe Was Just Joe Foundation hosts an annual silent auction during a late afternoon Packers game, to honor Joe Clements, a young man who too his own life.
Some of the items on sale this year include hotel and golf vacations, bow hunting items, and a guitar signed by Kenny Rogers.
The foundation hopes to raise around $5,000 to help suicide prevention efforts.
Joe’s father Dave says the foundation has made a real difference if people’s lives.
“By talking to it, we shine light on it, and I know for a fact that my talking into different groups have saved two people’s lives,” Dave Clements said. “Those two people told me themselves that my story and Joe’s story stopped them from taking their own life.”
More than 80 items were up for sale during this year’s fundraiser.
