Four decade donut tradition at La Crosse Interstate Fair
WEST SALEM, WI — The La Crosse Interstate Fair is marking its 123rd year in 2013. Back again this year is the crowd favorite Family Mini Donut stand, which has been a staple at the fair for the past 41 years.
The same family has been running the stand for years. For the past decade Nancy Boecher has been in charge of the stand.
She says it opens bright and early every morning, 8 a.m., and her first customers are usually 4-H members wanting to start the day out right.
“I love to see the smile on everybody’s faces,” Boecher said. “They can’t wait to get their mini donuts. They watch them being made, they see them going around, the flipper flipping them over, then going up the ramp. They can say, ‘That one’s mine, and that one’s mine, and that one’s mine!'”
The La Crosse Interstate Fair continues through Sunday.
