Four Eau Claire city wells test positive for PFAS

12 other wells remain in operation

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WKBT) – The city of Eau Claire says 4 of its municipal wells have tested positive for PFAS.

The forever chemicals are linked to thyroid disease, infertility and cancer.

But officials did share the test results.

12 other wells remain in operation.

City Utilities Manager Lane Berg said, “We will also work with the DNR to identify the source of the PFAS… and ensure other wells or any news wells are not affected by PFAS now or in the future.”
