Four jailed in alleged assault captured on video in Eau Claire
Police identify 18-year-old male is accused of being the main aggressor
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Eau Claire police arrested four people in connection with an assault they first learned about on Thursday from an anonymous complaint about a video posted on a social media platform.
The video showed a defenseless male being beaten by another male, according to a police department news release sent from Deputy Chief Derek Thomas of the Police Investigations and Professional Standards Division.
Investigators confirmed that the assault occurred at a residence in the 2300 block of Sunset Drive.
Police identified 18-year-old Chase M. Passon as the primary aggressor. Passon, who police said admitted to the assault, was taken into custody and to the Eau Claire County Jail. He was booked on allegations of battery, disorderly conduct, two counts of felony bail jumping and possession of MDMA.
Police investigators also determined that 18-year-old Ruby M. Jimenez-Nevarez, 18-year-old Alexis M. Strenke and a female juvenile also were involved.
Jimenez-Nevarez and Strenke were booked on allegations of battery, while the juvenile was referred to juvenile court for battery.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he is recovering from his injuries, according to police, who released no more information on the victim.
The cause of the assault is being investigated, but police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the assault.
Police also are investigating reports of several threats directed toward the suspects and their families, according to the police news release.
