Mayo Clinic Health System-Franciscan Healthcare celebrates 20 years of partnership

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Franciscan Healthcare is celebrating a big anniversary under the Mayo Clinic Health System umbrella.

It was 20 years ago that Franciscan Skemp entered into a partnership with Mayo. Officials say it’s been a mutually-beneficial relationship, with Mayo providing top-of-the-line specialty care possibilities and research, and the local hospital providing community care.

“It was quite an accomplishment to bring three organizations together, it was quite an accomplishment to maintain the Franciscan sisters sponsorship and co-ownership, but it’s worked very well,” said Mayo Clinic Health System-Franciscan Healthcare CEO Tim Johnson.

Officials say a lot has changed in two decades, but they look forward to the next 20 years in the relationship.
