Freedom Fest returns to UWL July 15th

Event begins with free concert from La Crosse Symphony Orchestra

Mark your calendars for next weekend as Freedom Fest is back for another year.

Starting Friday July 15th, the 9th annual Freedom Fest kicks off with a free performance from the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra. The concert will include patriotic music as historic World War 2 planes fly over the crowds, followed by a fireworks display at the end of the night.

While the festivities throughout the weekend may seem small to some, the event draws in some pretty big names.

“Every year we build up a little bit more, and so we’re really excited to have great acts. This year we have O.A.R., which are known for a great live performance, and then our headliner is Lynyrd Skynyrd, so legendary rock artists,” said Freedom Fest’s Libby Spirer.

The La Crosse Symphony Orchestra’s performance will start at 7 Friday night at UW-La Crosse’s Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex and is free and open to the public.

Saturday includes a motorcycle tour as well as performances from local bands TUGG and The Remainders, followed by headliners O.A.R. and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
