Freedom Walk in La Crosse commemorates 9-11 anniversary
LA CROSSE, WI — The 12th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks was commemorated with the annual Freedom Walk at Riverside Park in La Crosse.
Hundreds of people took part in the event sponsored by Operation Homefront.
It was a way to remember all the first responders who gave their lives to help others on 9-11. It was also a night to honor local emergency personnel who risk their lives everyday in our community. “We need to remember them, thank them, be so ever vigilant in not taking our freedom’s for granted and appreciating all those who do so much to help and protect us on a day to day,” said Patti Lokken from Operation Homefront.
Also, flags were lowered to half staff and UW-La Crosse honored the victims by placing three thousand American flags in the ground on campus.
