Friends of La Crosse Marsh host Bike Week bike ride
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Hosted by Friends of the La Crosse Marsh, a bike ride started downtown at Cameron Park Saturday and went through the river marsh trails in Myrick Park before returning downtown. Cyclists made stops in the marsh to learn about wetland environments as well as habitat enhancement projects lead by the Friends of the Marsh.
The event was part of Wisconsin Bike Week celebrations. Wisconsin Bike Week organizer Carolyn Dvorak said, “This is Wisconsin Bike Week, we celebrate it all across the state. It’s an opportunity to encourage people to use bicycling as part of their everyday normal life — so, riding to work, the grocery store, the park, a way to socialize with friends, get some exercise.”
Other Bike Week events Saturday included an invitation to bike to worship, the start of a week-long Bike Bingo, and a ride between local coffee shops
