From season ticker holder to player: Traxler catching for Loggers

Growing up, Troy Traxler was a Loggers season ticket holder. Now, he’s on the Loggers.

“From going to the park every day and catching fly balls, and now to be able to be here, in between the lines, and to be able to hit the foul balls for the kids, it’s kind of a humbling experience,” Traxler said.

Traxler starred in football, hockey and baseball at La Crescent. He committed to play baseball at the University of Minnesota, where he red-shirted this year.

“Just because I’m in no rush to graduate, and just because my shoulder also, give that a little rest and mature as a ball player and mature as a catcher.”

With the shoulder 100 percent, Traxler is back home this summer. He began the season catching almost daily, but with the arrival of new players, finding playing time isn’t as easy.

“I’m just here coming every day, working like everyone else, playing when I can play and as hard as I can. I think that’s really everybody’s role,” he said.

Even when he’s not on the field, Traxler is doing his part to help the team he grew up rooting for.

“It’s a team sport. Everybody’s gotta chip in, whether you’re in between the lines or you’re in the dugout. Everybody’s got to support everybody and I think it’s a good opportunity to learn, as well.”VIDEO: 44120(Loggers 6:00)
