FSPA gives $1.1M grant to La Crosse’s Family & Children’s Center
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – A large grant will help support the work of the Family & Children’s Center in La Crosse.
The Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration awarded the nonprofit a total of $1.1 million over the next three years.
A majority of the money will be designated for an endowment that funds the Family & Children Center’s child abuse and neglect prevention programs.
The rest will help cover monthly operating costs for three years, including helping recruit and retain staff.
“If we have good quality staff and we have less turnover, it increases program effectiveness and innovation,” said Tita Yutuc, the FCC’s president and CEO.
FSPA Sister Julie Tydrich said, “We don’t want such an important center of care to have to close, so it was worth a try for whatever we could get, and I’m just pleased that they think it will help them quite a bit.”
The La Crosse-based order is giving out a total of $6 million to 23 nonprofits over the three years to help make them more sustainable in the long-term.
