Ft. McCoy Senior Commander receives award
MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) — A Fort McCoy senior commander received an award for the 88th Readiness Division in Madison this week.
Maj. Gen. Jody J. Daniels, commander of the 88th Readiness Division and Senior Commander of Fort McCoy, received a commendation on behalf of the 88th by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and local state legislators at the state Capitol here on October 29, 2019.
State Senator Jennifer Shilling and Representative Nancy Vandermeer joined the governor in congratulating the general. State Senator Patrick Testin, one of the sponsors of the commendation, was unable to attend the ceremony.
The 88th Readiness Division was recognized for receiving the Gold Award in the U.S. Army Reserve’s national Army Community of Excellence program. The ACOE program recognizes U.S. Army Reserve organizations with outstanding achievements in areas of leadership, strategy, customer service, analysis, people empowerment, and operational efficacy. The 88th has received the Gold award in every year it was eligible over the past decade.
“We are extremely honored to be recognized in a bipartisan fashion by Governor Evers, Senator Testin, Senator Shilling and Representative Vandermeer,” Daniels said. “We have outstanding Soldiers and civilian employees that strive to improve the 88th Readiness Division every year. This truly is a testament to their efforts.”
Before the ceremony, Daniels had an opportunity to meet with Testin and Vandermeer to discuss opportunities to help improve the quality of life in Wisconsin for military members and their families.
