Gabriel ‘Gabe’ Sabelko

Gabriel R. Sabelko, age 16, of Eau Galle, died peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at his home.

Gabe was born on January 19, 2005 in Eau Claire. He was the son of the Kristopher and Rebecca (Gilles) Sabelko. Gabe grew up on the family farm in Eau Galle, attended Assumption Catholic School and was currently enrolled at Durand High School. From a young age, Gabe enjoyed helping on the family farm. He was very passionate about his sports, playing football, basketball, baseball, wrestling and shooting trap. Gabe loved spending time outdoors, spending quality time with his family and friends fishing and hunting. Coon hunting with his siblings and many friends was one of his favorites.

Gabe is survived by his parents, Kris and Becky; siblings, Brittan, Spencer, Leah, Isaac and Kayna, all at home; grandparents, Elaine Sabelko of Durand and Donald & Carleen Gilles of Waupaca; aunts and uncles, Lori (Joe) Danzinger of Mondovi, Lonnie (Karen) of Durand, Amy (Jodie) Winter of Durand, Ann (Todd) Prissel of Durand, Jill (Tony) Gruber of Meridean, Sarah (Randy) Peterson of Plum City, Paul (Jill) of Elmwood, Carl (Laura) of Eau Claire, Brad (Sarah) of Ella, Rhonda (Kris Wolsey) Gilles of Schofield, Rob Gilles of Schofield and Ryan (Melanie) Gilles of Stevens Point; special friend, Alayna Brantner of Rock Falls, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charles Sabelko.

Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 9, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima in Durand. Rev. Timothy Reiter and Rev. Emmanuel Asamoah-Bekoe will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.  Sunday at the Rhiel Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church on Monday.
