Galesville Construction Worker Discovers War Relic

In Galesville on Saturday night, police responded to reports of a bomb in the basement of an old building.

The bomb however turned out to be a artillery shell from the early 1900’s.

“Well before us it was a furniture carpet store but it was just being let go by the past owners so we wanted to step in and save it before it was gone for good.

I was just working over at our antique gift shop and our contractor guy that was taking down the back part of our building just came in and said I don’t know how to tell you this but we found an arterially shell under the floor and the cops are here.

Was this really happening?

Why would an arterially shell be there?

I’m sure they didn’t even know it was there. It was under the floor boards. Well the date that was on it was 1918 so its obviously been there awhile.

There’s a lot of history in this building and we just don’t want to lose another building that has been full of history”

Members of the Minneapolis 9 hundered and 34-th Airlift Wing E-O-D took the shell to a safe place and detonated it.

The surrounding area was searched for additional rounds but nothing else was found.
