Galesville tire shop deemed a near total loss after fire
The Galesville Area Fire Department Chief says the cat that lived at the business perished in the fire
GALESVILLE, Wis. (WKBT) – A tire shop in Galesville is deemed a near total loss after a fire early Sunday morning.
According to a news release from the Galesville Area Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to Jeff’s Service for a building on fire at approximately 4:12 a.m.
Fire Chief Lucas Teska says the business suffered about $1.5 million in damages and is a near total loss. The cat that lived at the shop also perished from the fire.
Teska says one firefighter suffered a minor injury from the fire, and was taken to a local hospital.
Firefighters cleared the scene shortly after 10:30 a.m.
Twenty other departments and agencies helped provided assistance at the scene, according to the release.
Teska says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
