Garden Expo promotes community

Warmer weather is in the forecast and that means gardening season is right around the corner.

On Saturday afternoon, the Washburn Neighborhood Association held its annual gardening expo at Lincoln Middle School.

The event is meant to get the community interested in gardening while celebrating the start of the spring.

Experts from around the region were on hand to answer questions from people preparing for the upcoming season.

Organizers say it’s an event made by the community for the community.

“It brings the people together that are interested in spring. It’s a good time of year for this because everybody wants to get out of the house. Long winter so even though its cold today, people are coming in,” said Randy Mago of the Washburn Neighborhood Association.

The event has been going on for over 13 years.
