Generous donation helps area veterans
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Veterans in our community are getting some extra support thanks to a generous donation.
The American Legion Post 52 received $1,000 from Park Bank on Thursday.
The money is being used to support veteran programs like PTSD awareness, suicide prevention, and helping homeless vets.
The American Legion commander said this donation is going to make a big difference.
He also mentioned simple ways you can help struggling veterans as well.
“If you see a homeless vet or veteran in need, walk up to them and say ‘how are you doing, thank you for your service,’ that is a lot for one veteran,” said Josh Navrestad, Commander of American Legion Post 52.
According to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, 20 vets die per day from suicide in our country.
If you see or know a struggling veteran you can reach out to the Legion at (608)-782-3232.
